Hemm żewġ sinjali għal ŻIEMEL TAL-BAĦAR. L-ewwel sinjal isir b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ X bil-pala tħares lejn il-ġenb. L-id titla’ f’linja kkurvata bil-lura mill-qadd sal-livell tar-ras. Imbagħad l-id timxi b’xi tlett qabżiet żgħar ’il quddiem mill-ġenb sa’ quddiem il-ħalq.
It-tieni sinjal huwa magħmul minn żewġ partijiet: (jew i) Fl-ewwel parti l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ X bil-pala tal-id tħares lejn il-ġenb. Din il-parti tixbaħ is-sinjal għal GAMBLU. (jew ii) Fit-tieni parti isir is-sinjal għal-ŻIEMEL. Id-dirgħajn jintefgħu ’l quddiem u l-idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ T waqt li l-pala tħares ’il ġewwa. L-idejn jitilgħu u jinżlu qishom r-riedni taż-żiemel li jiċċaqilqu mal-moviment tiegħu.

There are two signs for SEA HORSE. The first sign is made with one hand in the shape of X with palm facing the side. The hand moves up in a curved line backwards from the waist to head level. Then the hand moves with three small jumps forward from the side to the front of the face.
The second sign is made up of two parts: (jew i) In the first part the hand is in the shape of X with the palm looking inwards to the side. This part resembles the sign for PRAWN. (jew ii) In the second part the sign for HORSE is made with the lower arms lying forward almost in horizontal position. The hands are in the T shape with palms facing the body. The hands move up and down as though in synchrony with the horse’s reins that move along with the horse.
The sign for SMALL or the sign for BIG is made with two hands in the shape of C. The hands face each other in a vertical or diagonal direction. The distance between the hands indicates the relative size of the sea horse. The sign for SEA HORSE precedes the sign for SMALL or BIG.
The sign for MANY is used to signal the plural. A classifier is often used. In this case, the hand takes the shape of X and is placed in several places in the signing space as though several sea horses were being placed there.
When the noun SEA HORSE is used as the subject of a verb of movement, the hand takes the shape of X and is used as the classifier, moving according to the action indicated by the verb.
